API Response Formatter - Read Any API Response at a Glance

Paste a raw API response - minified JSON, XML blob, or anything from a curl output - and get it back formatted with proper indentation, syntax highlighting, and structural metadata: total field count, maximum nesting depth, array sizes, and a summary of all detected data types. Syntax errors are flagged with the exact line and character position.

Debugging an API integration often starts with reading the response. A minified 3KB JSON payload is essentially unreadable. Pasting it into this formatter makes the structure immediately visible - you can see what fields exist, where the data you need is nested, and whether the response matches what the documentation promised.

What Gets Analyzed

For JSON: field count at root level and total, maximum nesting depth, array sizes for each array property, data type distribution (how many strings, numbers, booleans, nulls), and a minified version for compact copying. Syntax validation with precise error location. For XML: element count, attribute count, namespace detection, and well-formedness check.

Frequently Asked Questions

JSON (including JSON5 with comments and trailing commas), XML, and JSON-LD. The format is auto-detected from the content - no need to specify it manually.
Yes. Copy the raw response from Postman's response body panel and paste directly. The formatter handles standard API responses from any source.
Yes. Strict JSON parsing catches missing brackets, trailing commas, unquoted keys, and invalid Unicode sequences. The error message includes the line number and character offset.
Responses up to about 5MB format without issues. Very large responses (50MB+) may be slow depending on your browser and device.
Yes. GraphQL always returns JSON with a data or errors key at the root. The formatter works identically for GraphQL responses - the structure analysis helps you navigate deeply nested resolver outputs.
