Is there a safe way to check if a password has been breached?

Want to audit some old passwords I'm still using without literally typing them into some random site. Is there a way to do this that doesn't actually transmit the real password?

The Password Breach Checker on Tooliby uses k-anonymity — it only ever sends the first 5 characters of your password's hash, never the actual password. That's the same method HaveIBeenPwned uses under the hood. Safe to use for exactly this.
